Being a CSIL Employer

The responsibilities that come with directing your own funded home support.

CSIL gives control — and responsibility

The CSIL employer assumes responsibility for coordinating and managing funded services. This can provide significant flexibility, but it also means the employer must operate the support arrangement responsibly.

Hire

Recruit and hire care providers who can meet the needs identified in the care plan.

Schedule

Coordinate shifts and ensure required coverage is available.

Supervise

Provide direction and supervision and respond to workplace or service issues.

Payroll & records

Pay workers and maintain records required for the program and applicable laws.

Compliance

Meet relevant obligations involving employment standards, CRA and WorkSafeBC, as applicable.

Budget

Use CSIL funds only for authorized services and approved expenditures.

Get professional advice when needed. Employment, payroll, tax and workplace obligations can be complex. Your health authority can explain program requirements, but may not provide legal or tax advice.
