Funding & Costs

How CSIL funding and client contributions are described by the Province.

How CSIL funding works

CSIL clients receive a set amount of funding each month from their health authority to directly purchase their own home support services. The amount is based on the assessed number of home support hours and the applicable CSIL hourly rate.

Effective date Minimum hourly rate published by B.C.
April 1, 2022 $34.73
April 1, 2023 $37.07
April 1, 2024 $38.19

Example: if a client is assessed for 100 hours per month at $37.07 per hour, the gross monthly funding calculation would be $3,707 before applicable client contributions and other adjustments.

Rates can change. The figures above reflect the B.C. information currently used for this website. Confirm the current rate with your health authority.

Client contribution

The Province states that CSIL clients pay a daily rate based on income and, where applicable, a spouse's income. The assessed contribution is deducted from the funding amount. Certain government income benefits can exempt a person from the daily rate.

There is also a maximum monthly charge of $300 where the client or spouse has earned income, subject to the rules described by the Province. Serious financial hardship may qualify a client for a temporary reduction.
